Those Who Think Terrorist Organization In North Of Iraq Is A Threat To Only Turkey Are Mistaken, Erdogan

ISTANBUL - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Wednesday those who think the terrorist organization situated in north of Iraq is a threat to only Turkey are mistaken.
Speaking at the inauguration of the 12th Congress of the International Business Forum organized by the Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (MUSIAD), Erdogan said that the terrorist organization is a threat to the region and European countries with its illegal drug and weapons trafficking.
Turkey has assumed responsibilities in finding solutions in the Balkans, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Iraq, between Israel and Palestine as well as between Israel and Syria, Erdogan noted.
Turkey is doing all it can in peaceful relations with Iran, Erdogan said.
Terror is a serious threat to global peace and stability, Erdogan said.
The remedy to end terrorism is economic development, trade, investments and production, Erdogan stressed.
"Turkey would complete the South-Eastern Anatolia Project (GAP) by the end of 2012. The terrorist organization is uncomfortable with this project and wants to escalate tension," Erdogan said.
The fight against terror makes it a must for a common platform among all countries, Erdogan said.
Solidarity among all countries is essential in the fight against terror, Erdogan also said.
GAP is a multi-sector integrated regional development project based on the concept of sustainable development for the nine million people living in the South-eastern Anatolia region of Turkey. GAP's basic aim is to eliminate regional development disparities by raising people's income level and living standards; and to contribute to such national development targets as social stability and economic growth by enhancing the productive and employment generating capacity of the rural sector.
