ABU DHABI - Turkish minister for women and family affairs said that Turkey would always support efforts exerted for the democratization in the Middle East and North Africa.
Speaking at the ministerial meeting of the Forum for Future 2008 held in Abu Dhabi, Turkish State Minister Nimet Cubukcu said that Turkey has backed economic and social reforms made within the framework of the Broader Middle East and North Africa (BMENA) Initiative and played an active and constructive role in its region.
"We also believe that efforts to arrive at a solution to the Middle East conflict and permanent peace will have positive impacts on the reform process in the region," she said.
Cubukcu also called for an institution on gender studies to be established in the region, saying that such an institution would be an important step to strengthen the role of women in the region.
