A 148-YEAR-OLD DREAM BECOMING TRUE
The last tubes of Istanbul's underwater tunnel Marmaray were connected yesterday. Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim, Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbas and Governor Muammer Guler attended the inaugural ceremony held at the construction site in Istanbul's Uskudar district. Erdogan and the accompanying officials later walked inside the tube tunnels of Marmaray which were constructed at a 60-meter depth underwater.
TURKISH JETS HIT TERRORISTS IN NORTH OF IRAQ
Turkish warplanes hit the PKK targets in Hakurk region in the north of Iraq. A total of 31 targets were shot during the operation.

SPECIAL TEAM SENT TO EASTERN PROVINCES
Police department earlier decided to increase the number of special team members and 511 police officers became new members of the team. The new members received certificates in a ceremony on Saturday and they were sent to the eastern provinces.
GUL: "MGK DECISION SAYS TURKEY SHOULD HOLD TALKS WITH REGIONAL ADMINISTRATION"
President Abdullah Gul backed the government's preparation for holding talks with the regional administration in the north of Iraq after an attack waged by terrorist organization PKK on Aktutun military outpost. Gul said the decision on holding direct talks with the regional administration was not a new one and it was the result of the decisions made by the National Security Council (MGK).

A statement released by the Turkish General Staff has said it has been following PKK terrorists who waged an attack on Aktutun military outpost and who sheltered in Hakurk region in the north of Iraq. The statement said Turkish warplanes bombed 31 targets of terrorist organization in Hakurk midnight Friday.
511 NEW POLICE OFFICERS TO SPECIAL OPERATIONS
511 police officers including two women received certificates after completing their training on special operations in Golbasi district of Ankara. The police officers will be sent to the southeastern region of the country as members of special operations unit to fight against terrorist organization PKK.

SUICIDE BOMBER CAUGHT IN ISTANBUL
A female terrorist who was getting prepared to stage a bomb attack in Istanbul and the courier who gave her the explosives to be used in the attack were caught by the police. The police stopped the terrorist in Istanbul's Sisli neighborhood and found 8 kg of explosives in her bag.

The terrorist got dressed as a pregnant woman and left the house with a bag in her hand yesterday. The police caught the terrorist on a bridge in Okmeydani district of Istanbul.
ERDOGAN CROSSES BOSPHORUS BY FOOT
Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan went 40 meters down the Bosphorus and walked from Uskudar district to Sarayburnu district of Istanbul through the underwater tunnel Marmaray. Erdogan walked nearly 1.3 km underwater.
"A 148-year-old dream has come true. This is the project of this century," Erdogan said.
