Czech Premier Rejects Privileged Partnership For Turkey Instead Of Full-fledged Membership In EU

ANKARA - Czech prime minister rejected Wednesday any formula which proposed a privileged partnership for Turkey instead of a full-fledged membership in the European Union.
"Czech Republic ia one the countries which supports an unconditional EU accession for Turkey. Privileged partnership or such formulas cannot be accepted. Any candidate country which complies with the criteria should have the right to become an EU member," Mirek Topolanek told a joint press conference in Ankara with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan. "This is how the Union can strengthen its security, prosperity and stability," he said.
Responding to a question on Turkey`s fight against terrorism, Topolanek offered his condolences for Turkish troops who were killed in a recent terrorist attack.
"We do understand your grief. We are the passengers of the same ship for we have also lost Czech troops in NATO missions," Topolanek said.
