HELSINKI - Turkish President Abdullah Gul has arrived in Helsinki, Finland on Tuesday.
Finnish Environment Minister Paula Lehtomaki and Turkish Ambassador in Helsinki Reha Keskintepe welcomed Gul to the Helsinki Vanta Airport.
President Gul is being accompanied by Mrs. Hayrunnisa Gul and Secretary General of the Turkish Presidency Mustafa Isen.
Gul is in Finland on a three-days official visit.
President Gul will meet the President of Finland Tarja Halonen, Prime Minister Matti Taneli Vanhanen, Speaker of the Parliament Sauli Niinisto and former Finnish President and Chairman of the Independent Commission on Turkey Martti Ahtisaari on Wednesday, October 8.
Gul will deliver a speech at the Turkish-Finnish Business Meeting and visit the Tatar-Turkish Society Center.
President Gul will proceed to Yuvaskula city from Helsinki on October 9. Gul will visit Yuvaskula University and deliver a speech at Martti Ahtisaari Annual Conference.
The Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) and Finnish Academy are set to sign a cooperation agreement during the visit of Gul.
President Gul will also attend "Turkish Culture Month" activities that would be jointly organized by International Culture Center CAISA in Helsinki, Turkish Culture Ministry and Turkey`s Embassy in Helsinki between October 2 and 26.
Gul will travel to Estonia on October 9 for a three-days formal visit.
Bilateral relations, relations between Turkey and European Union as well as regional and international matters are expected to be assessed during Gul`s talks in Finland and Estonia.
President Gul is expected to return to Turkey on October 11.
