KESKIN - Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday called for unity and solidarity after the recent terrorist attack on a military outpost in Hakkari, and said negative criticisms that could demoralize security personnel should be avoided.
Erdogan who attended the funeral ceremony of Specialized Sergeant Hasan Aygor --who was killed in Friday`s terrorist attack-- in central province of Kirikkale, urged the media to make constructive criticism.
Erdogan said projects aiming at improving the physical structure of military outposts along Turkey`s borders were continuing. He said search teams were trying to locate the whereabouts of the two missing soldiers.
Erdogan said Higher Board of Counter-Terrorism would convene on a extraordinary meeting on Thursday saying that psychological, social, socioeconomic, and diplomatic aspects of the issue would be reassessed and measures would be taken hastily.
Erdogan referred to remarks by the UN, NATO, EU and the U.S. strongly condemning the terrorist attack and said these remarks did not solve the problem. Erdogan said they were expecting the international community to take joint action to cut the financial resources of the terrorist organisation.
15 Turkish soldiers were killed, 20 others were wounded while two soldiers went missing, Friday in an assault staged by PKK terrorists from north of Iraq on Aktutun Gendarmerie Border outpost in Semdinli town of southeastern province of Hakkari. Turkish soldiers killed 23 terrorists in clashes that erupted.
