Turkey's Parliament Speaker Opens Exhibition In Hungary

BUDAPEST - The Turkish parliament speaker opened an exhibition in Hungary on Friday.
Turkey`s Parliament Speaker Koksal Toptan participated in the inauguration ceremony of Istanbul-Essen-Pecs Exhibition in the Hungarian capital of Budapest on the second day of his visit to this country.
Before the inauguration ceremony, Toptan had a boat tour on the Danube, and had informal meetings with his Hungarian counterpart Katalin Szili and his German counterpart Nobert Lammert.
Toptan, Szili and Lammert later inaugurated the exhibition.
During the ceremony, Toptan said Turkey attached importance to 2010 European Capital of Culture project, and considered it an opportunity for all humanity, not only for three countries.
The European Capital of Culture is a city designated by the European Union for a period of one calendar year during which it is given a chance to showcase its cultural life and cultural development.
In 2010, German city of Essen, Hungarian city of Pecs and Turkish city of Istanbul will be the European capitals of culture.
Also speaking in the ceremony, Szili said parliament speakers of the three countries came together and supported multilateralism.
Lammert said that Essen, Pecs and Istanbul would be united to each other in 2010.
Toptan will later participate in a reception hosted by the German ambassador to Hungary to mark Germany`s national day.
