Turkey's Parliament Speaker Meets High-level Hungarian Officials

BUDAPEST - Turkish Parliament Speaker Koksal Toptan held talks with Hungarian President Laszlo Solyom, Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary Katalin Szili and Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurchsany in the Hungarian capital of Budapest on Friday.
Toptan's meetings with Solyom, Szili and Gyurchsany were closed to press.
Holding a joint press conference with Szili following their meeting, Toptan said he got the impression during today's talks that the relations between Turkey and Hungary would improve further in the upcoming period.
Toptan also said that he thanked Hungarian officials for their support concerning Turkey's EU membership process.
Hungarian Parliament Speaker Szili said that issues related to Turkey's EU membership were mainly on the agenda of Toptan's talks.
Sizili said they exchanged views regarding the steps Turkey needed to be take during its preparation period for EU.
After the press conference, Szili briefed Toptan and the accompanying delegation on the activities carried out by the Hungarian parliament. Later on, Szili held a luncheon in honor of Toptan.
