Commander Of Turkish Navy Atac Begins Talks In Athens

ATHENS - The Commander of the Turkish Navy Admiral Metin Atac began his talks in Athens on Wednesday.
Having arrived in Athens upon an invitation by his Greek counterpart Chief of the Naval General Staff George Karamalikis, Atac is visiting Athens within the scope of confidence building measures between Turkey and Greece.
Atac began the day in Athens by placing a wreath at the Unknown Soldier Monument.
Metin Atac later proceeded to the headquarters of the Greek Navy where bilateral talks would take place.
Atac and Karamalikis are expected to discuss confidence building measures in the Aegean and go over steps to be taken in the future.
Speaking to reporters while visiting the Piraeus Turkish Martyrdom on Tuesday, Atac stressed that "we want to end problems and look at the future."
Admiral Metin Atac is the first Turkish Commander of Navy to ever visit Athens.
Atac would leave Greece on Friday, October 3.
