LEFKOSA - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Rauf Denktas said that if Greek Cypriot side accepts the identity of TRNC, all the crossings (between the two sides) would be eased.
Releasing a statement on Tuesday, Denktas said that as long as Greek Cypriot administration obstinate in its position alleging that it is the sole legitimate government of the island, controls at border crossings would be maintained.
Stating that some people demanded that identity cards should not be asked during their passages due to crowd at border crossings, Denktas said, ''if they (Greek Cypriot Government) accept the presence of TRNC, an agreement will be signed between two sovereign states as it happened in the European Union (EU) and all passages will be eased.''
Denktas noted that Turkish Cypriots were struggling for their country and their freedom, adding that they should be patient and persevere in their struggle.
