PRESSTV- Israel has agreed to supply Azerbaijan with mortars, radio equipment, and ammunition worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

The Israeli defense ministry and the Azerbaijani government signed the agreement on Friday in exchange for oil and gas, reports said.

Israeli minister of national Infrastructures and former defense minister Benjamin Ben-Eliezer said that Azerbaijan could serve as a source of oil and gas for Israel.

Recently, Israel has also signed arms deals worth tens of millions of US dollars with Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan's neighbor.

Azerbaijan borders Iran and is rich in oil and natural gas. The Caucasus state plans to produce 52.5 million tons of crude and 27.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas this year.

Azeri President Ilham Aliyev earlier voiced a desire for closer relations with Israel. The two countries established diplomatic relations in 1991.
