Turkish Cypriot Foreign Minister Meets Turkish President, Counterpart

ANKARA - Turkish Cypriot Foreign Minister Turgay Avci met on Tuesday with Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan in New York.
Turkish Cypriot Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Avci exchanged views with Gul and Babacan over recent developments in the Cyprus issue.
Speaking to reporters in New York, Avci said the Greek Cypriot side was not "sincere" on finding a settlement, adding that it was trying to prolong the negotiations and avoid to set a timetable.
"The Turkish Cypriot side is an equal partner on the island. And the settlement will be based on a bi-zonal structure with the political equality of the two communities under Turkey`s guarantee," Avci said.
