ATHENS, Aug 24 (AFP) - Hungary's Olympic discus champion Robert Fazekas will be stripped of his gold medal after being caught trying to switch his urine sample during a drugs test, an International Olympic Committee source told AFP Tuesday.
Fazekas, who won the gold medal with a throw of 70.93 metres in Monday night's final, will now be expelled from the games, the IOC source said.
The discus gold will now go to Lithuania's Virgilijus Alekna, the Sydney Olympics champion.
Belarus high jumper Aleksey Lesnichiy is also to be thrown out of the Games after testing positive for clenbuterol, a banned steroid, added the source.
Lesnichiy failed to qualify for the final - coming last in his qualifying group.
Fazekas, the 29-year-old European champion and 2003 World Championship silver medallist, becomes the second track and field gold medal winner in Athens to be stripped of their title for a doping offence.
Russian women's shot put winner Irina Korzhanenko had her gold taken away and was thrown out of the games on Monday after testing positive for banned steroid stanozolol.
Korzhanenko was the first track and field gold medalist to fail a doping test since Ben Johnson at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
