PRESSTV - A bomber targets a vehicle belonging to a paramilitary convoy in Pakistan's Quetta city, killing three people and injuring a dozen.
The blast occurred on Wednesday near the Askari Park in Quetta, capital city of Baluchistan province, local media reports said.
A young girl and two Frontier Corps soldiers lost their lives in the attack. The Frontier Corps is a paramilitary force which uses recruits from Pakistan's tribal areas and is overseen by Pakistani army officers.
A van carrying school children was also damaged by the blast which left a 16-year-old girl dead and five children injured, sources said.
Meanwhile, eye witnesses said that more than a dozen injured including security personnel and school children were taken to the nearby hospitals.
Security forces cordoned off the area after the blast and investigators scoured the site for clues.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack but such strikes are usually blamed on Pro-Taliban militants.
In December 2007, five soldiers were killed when two suicide bombers blew themselves up within the Quetta cantonment.
Baluchistan has also been the scene of clashes between Pakistani security forces and ethnic Baluch militants who are struggling for more autonomy over their region.
The attack comes just days after the deadly bombing of the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad that killed at least 60 people and injured more than 275.
Security was tightened across Pakistan after the attack on the Marriott.
