NEW YORK - Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan has said Turkey attached a great importance to territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia.
Babacan delivered a speech on Turkish foreign policy at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York, the United States.
Babacan said the region around Turkey including Caucasus, Balkans, Middle East, Central Asia and North Africa had unique dynamics and problems. He said Turkey was working to find solutions to regional matters.
After starting of clashes in Georgia, Turkey launched shuttle diplomacy and it aimed at stopping clashes as soon as possible, Babacan said.
In regard to the energy issue, Babacan said Turkey was of great importance for Europe in the areas of energy, natural gas and oil.
Babacan said Nabucco natural gas project was an important one and they wanted to fulfill this project.
"The recent crisis in Caucasus showed once again that energy diversity is essential," he stated.
