WE WILL TURN THIS CRISIS INTO AN OPPORTUNITY
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan accompanied by Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan, State Ministers Nazim Ekren and Kursad Tuzmen, held a press conference on the recent economic developments in the world. Erdogan said, "no one should doubt that Turkey will get over this crisis, this fluctuation with minimum damage." Erdogan said that the government would continue its determined efforts to reach to the goals it had set before, and the it would stick to the financial discipline.

RICE SAYS TURKEY IS A PERFECT ALLY
U.S. Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice said that Turkey was an excellent ally. Answering a question of a foreign journalist before meeting Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan, Rice said that Turkey had been an excellent ally of the United States in many crisis, including the recent Caucasus crisis. Turkey is an important country in the region for a peaceful Caucasus, Rice stressed.

ERDOGAN RELAYS CONFIDENCE MESSAGES TO MARKETS
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said world finance sector was going through a serious crisis, while commenting on global crisis. Erdogan said Turkey would turn this fluctuation into an opportunity.
Erdogan said Turkish economy has never been so strong in the past, adding that, "we have not allowed any intervention in stability and confidence atmosphere. Our stance will continue."

BOTAS WILL NOT WITHDRAW FROM NATURAL GAS MARKET
Energy Ministry started works to strengthen Turkish Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAS), that has to hand over gas purchase contracts to private sector in three months under the law, in the sector.
Thus BOTAS will not split up and will be in the sector like TPAO.
Petroleum Platform Association (PETFORM), including companies like Shell, BP, Enerco, and Bosphorus wanted BOTAS to hand over the contracts under the law.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the reflection of the (economic) crisis to Turkey would be low because corruption was prevented in the country. Erdogan said, "Turkey will overcome this crisis with minimum influence, and walk for its target with determination. I believe this process will be turned into an opportunity for Turkey."

Prof. Recep Ozturk from Scientific Board, which examined the death of 13 babies within 11 hours at Izmir Tepecik Hospital, gave the results of the preliminary examination, and said that the infection in serum caused the deaths.

INFECTION IS THE REASON OF INFANT DEATHS
The investigation carried out in Tepecik Hospital New Born Unit in Aegean province of Izmir, where 13 newborn babies lost their lives, revealed the sorrowful fact that infection caused death of the babies.

REMOTE-CONTROLLED BOMB KILLS ONE SOLDIER IN HAKKARI
A bomb which was left near a building went off when a group of soldiers were passing by in Yuksekova town of southeastern province of Hakkari. In Semdinli town one security officer was wounded in a clash between security teams and terrorists.

WE LOSE HADI CAMAN
Hadi Caman, an important Turkish actor, died at the age of 65. Caman was suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) for a long time. Caman was staying at a nursing home since May 15th.

Legal and administrative investigation started regarding the death of 13 babies within 24 hours in Izmir Tepecik Hospital. Preliminary results of the autopsy: infection was found in five babies. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said regarding the deaths: "premature births are always risky."

GOOD WORKS IN FILMEKIMI
Filmekimi (movie festival) will please cinema fans. Woody Allen`s Palme d`Or winner "The Class" and 21 recent movies of master directors like Wim Wenders and Hayao Miyazaki will be shown in Filmekimi. The festival will take place at Emek Cinema Hall between October 10th and 16th.

Turkish actress Nurseli Idiz who was detained under the Operation Ergenekon and then released told Hurriyet that no accusation was made about her. Idiz said she decided not to have a mobile phone from now on and she threw it away. "They put forth the sentences that I used in my most private moments," she said.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who attended the fast-breaking dinner of Security Directorate General, gave the message that the responsibility area of gendarmery would be narrowed, while police officers` would be broadened.

HADI CAMAN PASSES AWAY
Hadi Caman, one of the important figures of Turkish theater, passed away in a rest home in Istanbul yesterday. Caman had been struggling against ALS disease for nearly one year. A ceremony will be held for Caman at Nisantasi Yeditepe Oyunculari Hall at 11:00 a.m. today.

FOREIGN EXCHANGE WARNING TO PRIVATE SECTOR
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned that Turkish companies that did not have foreign exchange income should be more careful on foreign exchange risk.
"Turkey has changed, it is more resistant to shocks from now on. We may turn the global crisis to an opportunity. Conviction of Central Bank is different on interest rates, but I think interests may be dropped more. There won`t be any new taxes," Erdogan said.
