PARIS - Turkish State Minister Mehmet Simsek called on leading French firms to invest more in Turkey.
Simsek met the representatives of leading French companies at a seminar organized in Paris on Monday.
Mehmet Simsek informed the French representatives on the recent condition of the Turkish economy.
"Turkey`s efforts for harmonization with the EU acquis present an opportunity for change in Turkey. We have made important structural and legal reforms in this process," Simsek said.
Reminding that France should not place an obstacle in Turkey`s EU membership process, Simsek stressed that the EU process contributed to Turkey`s economic and political development.
"Turkey, as Europe`s 6th biggest and world`s 17th biggest economy, would make the EU a global economic actor with its membership," Simsek noted.
"Turkey has a dynamic population and the Turkish industry continues to be more competitive," Simsek said.
Touching on the importance Turkey attached to public finance discipline and deep rooted reforms made in the Turkish banking sector, Simsek said that the Turkish government made important investments in education and that the government aimed to increase quality in education.
Simsek will deliver a speech on the Turkish economy at the Paris Chamber of Trade and Industry on Tuesday, September 23rd.
