ANKARA - The Prime Ministry motion, which extends the period of authority to eliminate attacks by terrorists from the north of Iraq to Turkey for one more year, was presented to Parliament on Monday.
On October 17th, 2007, an authority was given to the government to allow Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) eliminate terrorist threat and attacks from the north of Iraq to Turkey.
The motion stressed that the terrorist threat and attacks by PKK terrorists, which took shelter in the north of Iraq, continued against peace, security, national unity and territorial integrity of Turkey.
The motion asks the Parliament to extend the period of authority for one more year as of October 17th, 2008.
The motion also said that Turkey attached importance to protection of territorial integrity, national unity and stability of Iraq.
