Panama Recalls Ambassador To Cuba

PANAMA CITY, Aug 23 (AFP) - Panama on Monday recalled its ambassador to Cuba, after Havana threatened to break relations should President Mireya Moscoso pardon a man convicted in a plot to assassinate Cuban President Fidel Castro.
Panama's Foreign Affairs Minister Harmodio Arias "on my instructions, has ordered the immediate return of the Panamanian ambassador to Havana," Abraham Barcenas, Moscoso told reporters.
"Yesterday, Cuba's Foreign Relations Ministry released a statement threatening to break diplomatic relations with our country," she said.
"These declarations are disrespectful and unacceptable to the dignity and sovereignty of the Republic of Panama," she said.
