ATHENS, Aug 23 (AFP) - The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is investigating charges that the head coach of Greece's women's basketball team obstructed officials from carrying out a drugs test on one of his players.
The incident occured after Greece's match against Australia on August 20, Greek Olympic team chief Yiannis Papadoyiannakis told a news conference.
Coach Yiorgos Tsiskaris prevented the anti-doping officials from approaching Greek player Katerina Delli, 29, to "leave her alone for a few minutes" after their defeat, according to Papadoyiannakis.
"It would be a great surprise for me if he is sanctionned," Papadoyiannakis said, denying that Fitskaris had any intention of obstructing the control.
The control took place a few minutes later, according to Greek officials.
