There Will Not Be Any UN Plan In Cyprus, Downer

LEFKOSA - A senior United Nations (UN) official said Friday that there will not be any UN plan in Cyprus.
Speaking at a press conference in the buffer zone in Cyprus, UN secretary general`s special envoy for Cyprus, Alexander Downer, said that the decision to be made in Cyprus would be made by the political will of the leaders and the peoples themselves.
The negotiations began in a positive way and I am optimistic, Downer said.
The negotiations in Cyprus would be a difficult process, Downer said.
I have been touched by the determination the two sides showed to solve the problem, Downer stressed.
Downer described the UN`s duty in Cyprus as helping the process.
Alexander Downer would travel to Australia after the press conference. He would later go to New York where he will present a report to the UN on Cyprus.
Downer would return back to Cyprus at the beginning of October.
