AKSARAY/DIYARBAKIR/ORHANGAZI/SAMSUN/ANKARA/BELEN - 11.09.2008 - Turkish security forces seized nearly 87.7 kg of hashish in separate operations waged throughout Turkey on Thursday.
In an operation conducted in the central Anatolian province of Aksaray, gendarmery forces stopped a bus and confiscated 28.9 kg of hashish.
In a separate operation waged in the southeastern province of Diyarbakir, gendarmery found 12 kg of hashish in a train heading for Istanbul.
Security forces also seized 2.3 kg of hashish in Orhangazi town of the northwestern province of Bursa. The illicit drug was hidden inside a television which was sent by cargo from Diyarbakir to Bursa, officials said.
During several operations conducted in the Black Sea province of Samsun, capital Ankara and Belen town of the southern province of Hatay, security forces confiscated nearly 44.5 kg of hashish.
A total of 37 people were detained in the operations, police said.
