ISTANBUL, Aug 23 (AFP) - In the end it was the wind rather than the music that blew away Istanbul's international pop and rock festival, but organizers said Monday they were well-satisfied with the results of the three-day event.
Organizers closed the festival prematurely on Sunday after heavy winds ripped down tents.
About 50,000 people attended the well-behaved event at an airfield in the Istanbul suburbs to hear rockers and rappers such as Iggy Pop and the Stooges, the Rasmus, 50 cent, Fun Loving Criminals and Ash, as well as several Turkish groups.
Police said no incidents had been recorded during the festival.
