ISTANBUL - The exporters assembly of Turkey elected its new president on Tuesday.
Turkish Exporters' Assembly elected Mehmet Buyukeksi as its new president in a regular general assembly meeting in Istanbul.
Buyukeksi won the votes of 201 delegates, whereas the other candidate Adnan Dalgakiran only got 125 votes.
Born in the southeastern province of Gaziantep in 1961, Buyukeksi graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of Istanbul's Yyldyz Technical University in 1988. He attended business administration courses at the Marmara University and business administration and English courses in the United Kingdom in 1998.
He was earlier the deputy president of the Turkish Exporters' Assembly, board member at the Istanbul Commerce Chamber, board member at the Turk Eximbank, board member at the Turkish Airlines Inc., board member at the Turkish Leather Foundation (TURDEV).
He was the president of the Turkish Association of Shoe Industrialists for six years. Buyukeksi was the chairman of the board at the ITKIB Association of Leather and Leather Products Exporters. He is currently a board member at the ITKIB Association of Leather and Leather Products Exporters. He is a founder of the Foundation for Research, Development and Training of the Turkish Footwear Sector (TASEV). He was also chairman of the board at the foundation between 1997-2006.
