ANGERS - Turkish Health Minister Recep Akdag said on Tuesday that countries from where the contagious diseases broke out should be transparent and should act rapidly.
"Other countries and World Health Organization should give sincere support, should assist and should not impose unnecessary sanctions on such countries," Akdag said while addressing EU health ministers meeting that took place in Angers, France.
The EU member countries reviewed probable scenarios to deal with contagious diseases.
Referring to Turkey's experience related to bird flu in 2006, Akdag said, "Turkey acted transparently and rapidly and in cooperation with the European regional director of the World Health Organization. However, some countries imposed unnecessary restrictions."
Akdag also underscored importance of cooperation among the countries.
