ANKARA - Turkish security forces have arrested 475 illegal migrants throughout the country, security departments said on Monday.
Security forces stopped a van in Akhisar town of the Aegean province of Manisa and detained 27 illegal migrants.
In another operation in Islahiye town of the southeastern province of Gaziantep, police captured 37 illegal migrants.
Also, gendarmery forces caught 43 illegal migrants in Baskale town of the eastern province of Van.
In separate operations in Didim town of the Aegean province of Aydin in the last two days, coast guard and gendarmery forces detained 140 illegal migrants.
Also, 35 illegal migrants were arrested in Yayladagi town of the southern province of Hatay, 33 others were taken into custody in the Aegean province of Canakkale, and 160 others were caught in the northwestern province of Edirne.
The illegal migrants were from Afghanistan, Somalia, Pakistan, Mauritania, Palestine, Iraq, Iran, Myanmar and Georgia.
They will be deported following legal proceedings.
