ISTANBUl, Aug 21 (AFP) - A Turkish man sustained a knife injury in a brawl on Saturday between fans of leading Istanbul club Fenerbahce ahead of a league game against domestic rivals Istanbulspor, the Anatolia news agency reported.
Shots were fired during the row between two different groups of Fenerbahce fans while one man was stabbed in the foot, the agency said.
The rowdy group also attacked reporters who arrived at the scene of the fighting, leaving one with a broken finger.
The cause of the fight was not immediately known.
Football violence is a growing concern for Turkish authorities who are planning to enforce a number of sanctions, including jail terms and life-time bans from stadiums, against troublemakers.
Turkey's notorious fans came under international spotlight in 2001 when two Britons were stabbed to death in a street brawl with Turkish supporters ahead of an UEFA game between Leeds United and Galatasaray in Istanbul.
