KARABAY: I DID NOT HAVE THE CHANCE TO GIVE ORDERS
Gen. Koksal Karabay, who was claimed not to be promoted due to Suleymaniyah event in Iraq and wanted his retirement although his term in office was extended, said that the sack event which happened in Suleymaniyah was an instantaneous event. Gen. Karabay said, ''nobody from Turkey had the chance to give orders. Eleven people fulfilled their mission heroically.''

FULLER: TURKEY FOUND THE APPROPRIATE MODEL
Graham Fuller, former CIA official, said that Turkey started to be a real model for Islamic world by being the first Muslim country which elected a party having Islamic roots. He said that Turkey, which is becoming more democratic, started to leave classical ''U.S.-concentrated'' policies and directed towards ''the EU and regional-concentrated'' policies. He added that Turkey can further contribute to regional stability with this shape.

TALAT BLOW AT TRNC BORDER
Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat went to TRNC-Greek Cypriot border and allowed a Greek Cypriot deputy enter TRNC without showing identity card. Talat violated TRNC laws and also conditions of cease-fire signed after Turkey's operation in Cyprus in 1974 which arranges passages between Turkish and Greek Cypriot sides. Talat who personally violated the law and agreement was reacted harshly by TRNC President Rauf Denktas and Security Forces Command.

GAFFE FROM CENTRAL BANK
Markets confused when Central Bank unveiled its report yesterday before new agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is fixed. While a reduction in interest rates are being expected, the rates and U.S. dollar rose after the announcement of the report that includes an increase.

300 GIRLS WILL GO TO SCHOOL
25 idealist teachers did not take vacation and they visited families in 72 villages in eastern Bingol province and convinced them to send their daughters to school. 300 girls will go to school thanks to teachers' efforts. The teachers also found sponsors for 100 boys to go to school.

PAPA WILL COME TO TURKEY IN NOVEMBER
Leader of Catholic Christians Pope Jean Paul II will pay a visit to Turkey in November. Vatican officials said that Pope will certainly pay this visit if his health condition becomes well and he will visit Istanbul upon the invitation of Fener Greek Patriarch Bartholomeos. Pope will visit Istanbul on November 30, the date Independent Turkish Orthodox Patriarchate was founded. Pope had paid a visit to Turkey 25 years ago and went to Ataturk's Mausoleum and met President of that period Fahri Koruturk.

TRADE INDECISION OF THE EU
Law office of the European Union (EU) Council of Ministers did not approve the draft which was prepared to soften economic isolation over Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and which envisions to apply ''majority of vote'' while taking decisions to prevent veto right of Greek Cypriots. Jurists said that the regulations can be approved only unanimously.

KARABAY: WE DID NOT HAVE MISTAKE IN SULEYMANIYAH
Third Army Corps Commander Gen. Koksal Karabay who handed over his mission to Gen. Ethem Erdagi said that his retirement was not related with ''sack event'' in Suleymaniyah in Iraq. Noting that the team whose heads were covered with sacks in Suleymaniyah completed their mission heroically, Gen. Karabay said, ''Special Forces Commander did not have any sin. I also did not have any mistake.''

TURKISH DRIVER RESCUED
Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul held a news conference yesterday and said that Mustafa Koksal, one of two Turkish truck drivers kidnapped over the weekend in Iraq has been rescued. He added that Koksal was brought to Turkish Embassy in Baghdad and he will return to Turkey soon.

POPULATION TO BE 97.5 MILLION IN TURKEY IN 2050
The report of the United States claims that the population will be 97.5 million in Turkey in 2050 where average life-span is 69 years. The population of Europe will decrease.

NEW BRIDGE TO STRAITS
The bridge which will be built between Sariyer and Anadolu Kavagi districts of Istanbul will cost 1.2 billion U.S. dollars. This third bridge will be built by a Malaysian company with build-operate-transfer model. The company will operate the bridge for 49 years.

TURKISH DRIVER RESCUED
Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul said that one of the two Turkish truck drivers, Mustafa Koksal, who was kidnapped in Iraq was rescued. He added that however the body of Murat Yuce who was killed in Iraq cannot be located yet.

Justice and Development Party (AK Party) government which wanted to end bad scenes after natural disasters started initiatives. Firstly, buildings which are risky during earthquakes and the houses in stream beds will be destroyed. Then, apartment blocks will be built for the owners of shacks.

NATIONAL SOCCER TEAM BEATEN
Turkish national soccer team was beaten by Belarus 1-2 during under 21 friendly international match. The team did not give confidence before its match with Georgian team.

WORLD'S DENIM FROM TURKEY
Turkey meets 60 percent of denim fabric of the world. Turkey's denim fabric export to Spain increased more than 300 percent. Denim Industrialists Association Chairman Nedim Ozbek said that denim export to Spain increased 328 percent, Canada 104 percent and Britain 85 percent while exports of all productions remain stable.

CYPRUS SUMMIT IN ANKARA
Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat and Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Denktas convened in Ankara and evaluated recent condition in Cyprus. They discussed foreign policy pursued for ending embargoes on TRNC and openings of the European Union and the United States to TRNC.
