BERLIN - Austrian foreign minister has said partners of the coalition government in her country had decided to call for referendum on Turkey`s membership in the European Union, if the bloc greenlights the country`s accession.
"Coalition parties have agreed to go on for a referendum if Turkey`s accession talks are concluded in favor of a decision to prepare a membership agreement," Germany`s Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung quoted Ursula Plassnik as saying.
"And they have a good reason for that: Turkey`s membership will bring a new dimension to the European integration and the EU," she said.
