ANKARA - Turkish President Abdullah Gul sent Wednesday a letter of condolence to French President Nicolas Sarkozy over the killing of 10 French soldiers in a battle with Taliban in Afghanistan.
"Unfortunately, this tragic event once again showed how dangerous and hard is the responsibility of Kabul regional command which we, as allies and friendly countries, jointly carry out," Gul said in his letter.
Gul said Turkish people shared the deepest sorrow French people felt and offered his condolences to Sarkozy and families of French soldiers.
Taliban forces in Afghanistan killed 10 French soldiers and wounded 21 in an ambush east of the capital Kabul on August 18th.
