Turkish Premier Offers Alliance For Caucasus

ANKARA - Turkish prime minister proposed to set up an alliance for the Caucasus on Monday, saying that Turkey might take a role for that end.
"We can put an effort to form an alliance for the Caucasus and Turkey can assume an important role in that. Today I will call UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon to talk this matter," Recep Tayyip Erdogan told reporters.
"We can take create a common ground for peace in the Caucasus if we could take a step together with the U.S. and the European Union," he said.
The Turkish premier said the Russian Federation should also take part in such an alliance.
