ANKARA - Bodrum, a Turkish southwestern resort town with its scenic beauty and historical and cultural settings, will host the 6th Bodrum International Ballet Festival between August 15th and 29th.
The Ankara State Opera and Ballet Group will perform their show "SYNC" and "Carmina Burana" at the opening of the festival, which will take place in Bodrum Castle on Aug. 15th.
The first guest of the festival, "Los Vicanos: 7 Hermanos" from Spain, will perform on August 19th. The group members, including seven brothers, are world-famous flamenco dancers. All of them can also play different instruments.
The Istanbul State Opera and Ballet Group will perform Rosegarden (Guldestan) for the audience, with choreography by Beyhan Murphy, on August 22nd. Rosegarden was infused by Beyhan Murphy and Mercan Dede with nomadic roots and presents lives along with an inner search in a lyrical manner and using free-form language. This new journey, which Murphy derived from the repertoire she has formed by drawing on different characteristics of Turkey, acquires new breath with the interpretation of Mercan Dede.
Spanish group Flamencoriental will perform on August 26th. The group, whose artistic director is famous choreographer Antonio Najarro, will perform its show with a fusion of Spanish flamenco music and different oriental music styles.
The festival will come to an end with "Sinirin Asildigi Noktalar" (Points of The Crossing Borders) which will be performed by the Izmir State Opera and Ballet Group.
