ISTANBUL - Akbank, Turkey's largest publicly traded bank in terms of market capitalisation, achieved a net profit of 1.2 billion YTL in the first half of 2008, its director general said on Saturday. (1 USD = 1.19 YTL)
Akbank Director General Zafer Kurtul announced the bank's figures for the second quarter of 2008 in a meeting in Istanbul.
Total assets of the bank grew by 18 percent in the first half of this year, Kurtul said.
Kurtul also said the number of employees of the bank would reach 15,900 at the end of 2008.
