ISTANBUL - Turkey's Garanti Bank announced on Tuesday that it recorded a consolidated net profit of 1.029 billion YTL (890 million USD) in the first half of 2008, a 21 percent rise over the same period of last year.
Garanti, Turkey's second-largest bank by market capitalisation, said that its assets reached 83.6 billion YTL. (72 billion USD)
CEO Ergun Ozen said that Garanti aims to grow its distribution channels to reach more customers and to serve faster. He said the bank increased the number of its ATMs to become the country's second-largest ATM network.
Ozen also said that the bank opened 90 new branches this year. He said Garanti targets a total of 750 branches in Turkey at the end of this year.
