Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has arrived in a Turkish resort to hold talks with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The two sides will meet at the Aegean resort of Bodrum in southern Turkey to discuss bilateral and regional issues, a Syrian foreign ministry official said on Tuesday without providing more details.
The Turkish-mediated indirect Syria-Israel peace talks and Iran`s nuclear issue will also be discussed during the meeting.
Israel and Syria have been conducting Turkey-brokered indirect talks since May after an eight-year freeze in their ties.
Turkey has so far hosted four rounds of indirect peace talks between Israel and Syria. The fifth round of talks is due to be held in August.
Syria has conditioned normalizing ties with Israel on the return of the Golan Heights, under Israeli occupation in 1967.
