President Gul Receives Portuguese Foreign Minister Amado

ANKARA - Turkish President Abdullah Gul met on Monday with Foreign Minister Luis Amado of Portugal.
Amado later met Yasar Yakis, chairman of the parliamentary EU Adjustment Committee.
Speaking at the visit, Amado said Turkey and Portugal had to have a closer cooperation as the region was passing through difficult period. "Our government is intended to boost cultural and economic relations with Turkish government," he added.
Portugal's Foreign Minister was later received by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
No statement has been released after the meeting.
