MANAVGAT/SERIK - Turkish Environment & Forestry Minister Veysel Eroglu arrived in southern province of Antalya to examine the fire-hit region.
Antalya deputy Governor Hasan Ozhan and Forestry Director General Osman Kahveci briefed the minister about fire extinguishing efforts.
Forestry Deputy Director General Mustafa Kurtulmuslu told reporters that the fire, which was still influential in Manavgat and Serik towns of Antalya, was spreading to a larger area.
He said that fire started to threaten Sagirin region as well as Cardak village and Tasagil hamlet.
"You cannot image the risk we have lived in the last one hour. We evacuated hundreds of people from villages with bulldozers. We had a big danger. Our teams were trapped in between fires. Currently, there is no danger for Aspendos (ancient city). Fire is spreading towards Manavgat," said Kurtulmuslu.
The fire started in Antalya on Thursday. No deaths or injuries have been reported so far.
