SOFIA, Aug 13 (AFP) - The Bulgarian customs department said Friday it had seized a 67-kilo (148 pound) haul of heroin at the border post of Kalotina on the frontier with Serbia-Montenegro.
Officials said more than 130 packets of the drug were hidden in a Bulgarian-registered minivan. The three Bulgarian occupants were arrested.
It was the largest amount ever seized at the border post.
Bulgaria is on the Balkans smuggling route to Western Europe, and seized some 6.5 tons of drugs last year, including 662 kilos of heroin.
In June, customos officials found 92 kilos of heroin aboard a Turkish truck headed for Germany.
