TEHRAN - Iran's president defined on Thursday Turkey and Iran as friend and sister countries.
Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadi-Nejad said that Turkey and Iran had been friends and sister countries.
"Turkey and Iran have rooted and strong historical and cultural relations," Ahmadi-Nejad said during his meeting with Turkey's new ambassador.
Selim Karaosmanoglu, Turkey's new ambassador to Iran, presented his credential during the meeting.
Ahmadi-Nejad said that two countries were monitoring the developments in each other, and expressed his hope that bilateral relations would be boosted thanks to efforts of executives of the two countries.
