The forth round of the Turkish-brokered Israel-Syria talks has failed to put an end to a standoff between the two sides.
Israel and Syria resumed indirect peace talks in May but have not yet agreed to hold direct negotiations.
"The fifth round will be in mid-August, and again indirect," Reuters quoted an unnamed source as saying in Istanbul on Wednesday.
The negotiations focus on establishing a schedule for Israel`s withdrawal from the Golan Heights which was occupied by the Israeli regime in the 1967 Middle East War.
Israel then annexed the plateau in a move which was never recognized by the international community.
While Damascus seeks the full withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Golan Heights, Tel Aviv, in turn, wants Syria to scale back ties with its allies, Iran, Hamas and the Lebanese Hezbollah movement.
Syria however refused to do so saying "Israel`s demand would be as if Syria asked Israel to break its relations with the United States".
