Zebari urges US-Iran talks over Iraq

Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari has proposed further tripartite talks involving Iran and the US over the country's security situation.

"We are ready to hold another round of talks if the two countries agree,'' AP quoted Zebari as saying on Iraqi state TV.

He added the Iraqi government supports the talks but called on Tehran and Washington to do more for the 'trust-building' process.

Tehran, Baghdad, and Washington to date have held three rounds of talks on the security situation in Iraq.

Iran has already said it would attend further negotiations, provided a formal request is made to the Islamic Republic.

Tehran says it is ready to help the establishment of peace and security in war-ravaged Iraq, stressing it favors stability in the Middle East, especially in its neighboring countries.
