Kerry To Tackle U.S. Economy In Two-week Tour

CARSON, California, Aug 12 (AFP) - Democratic presidential hopeful John Kerry will spend the rest of the month highlighting the state of the economy, the issue that most concerns American voters, aides said Thursday.
Kerry, who is wrapping up a 15-day bus and train tour through several states considered key for victory in the November 2 presidential election, will take a break at his home in the northwestern state of Idaho from Saturday to Monday.
The Massachusetts senator will return to the campaign trail Tuesday with a first stop in Cincinnati, in the industrial state of Ohio.
In his next tour, dubbed "A stronger America begins at home: the path to prosperity," Kerry will focus on "building a stronger economy and creating new jobs," his campaign said.
A Time magazine poll this week showed that 27 percent of Americans put the economy as the election's top issue ahead of the war against terrorism.
Kerry will face President George W. Bush, a Republican, in the November 2 election.
