Alternative Boat Tours In Dalyan

MUGLA - Travel agencies in the popular resort town of Dalyan in southwestern Turkey have begun offering different alternatives to draw tourists' attention.
Both Turkish and foreign tourists showed great interest in such tours as they can have the chance to see caretta carettas and hunt blue crabs.
Atilla Gultekin, chairman of the Dalyan Boat Cooperative, said in an interview with the A.A on Monday, "we have begun organizing alternative tours. One of the most popular tours is hunting tours. Russian and Dutch tourists are interested in such tours as they can hunt blue crabs. But we warn tourists to set free female crabs to prevent extinction. Tourists can cook and eat the crabs they hunt."
The blue crab (Callinectes sapidus) is a large crustacean found especially in the waters of the western Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico. They are also prevalent in the Mediterranean.
