ISTANBUL - Worldwide famous heavy metal band Metallica has given a concert in Istanbul.
Thousands of fans wearing the black t-shirts of the band watched the concert at the Ali Sami Yen Stadium sponsored by "Akbank exi26".
In 1993, 48 thousand people watched Metallica's first concert in Istanbul. The band rocked the megapolis for the second time in 1999 and met nearly 46.5 thousand fans.
Formed in Los Angeles in 1981, the four-member band become one of the most commercially successful and influential heavy metal acts. With more than 120 million records sold worldwide, including 57 million in the United States, the band has won seven Grammy Awards, and has had four albums peak at number one on the Billboard 200.
Metallica has released eight studio albums, two live albums, two EPs, nine videos, 39 singles and has finished recording their upcoming ninth studio album, Death Magnetic.
The band's members are guitarist and vocalist James Hetfield, drummer Lars Ulrich, lead guitarist Kirk Hammett, and bassist Robert Trujillo.
