MADRID, Aug 12 (AFP) - Two small explosions occurred in the coastal resorts of Santander and San Lorenzo de Gijon, in northwestern Spain, on Thursday, slightly injuring one person, the police and media reported.
Spanish media said warnings were sent to Gara newspaper in the nearby Basque region on behalf of armed Basque separatist group ETA but police could not immediately confirm that report.
Local newspaper El Diario Montanes told AFP it had also received anonymous telephone warnings about the explosions, without going into details.
The explosions occurred at around 6:00 pm (1600 GMT). The blast in Gijon, in the province of Asturias, went off on a beach, slightly injuring one person, thought to be a man, police told AFP.
The explosion in Santander, in the neighbouring province of Cantabria, went off in a public garden. It did not cause an injuries or serious damage.
Two small bombs exploded in two other coastal resorts in Asturias and Cantabria on August 7, without causing any casualties. An anonymous caller claiming to speak for ETA had warned Gara, a Basque-language paper, in advance of the blasts.
Earlier on Thursday police arrested a 23-year-old man suspected of making hoax calls to Gara on behalf of ETA that had triggered a bomb alert in the holiday resorts of Catalonia, northeastern Spain, the media reported.
Two thousand tourists were evacuated from Catalonian beaches after Wednesday's bomb hoax.
