NAJAF, Iraq, Aug 12 (AFP) - US marines raided the home of radical Shiite cleric Moqtada Sadr in the Iraqi holy city of Najaf on Thursday but found the house was empty, his spokesman Sheikh Ahmed al-Shaibani said.
Shaibani said the raid on the home in an eastern sector of Najaf followed about one hour of intense fighting between US troops and Sadr`s Mehdi Army militia, although he had no account yet of the casualties.
"This is a peaceful house and not a military barracks," Shaibani told AFP. "We feel great anger."
