Military Court Sentences Former DTP Chairman To One Year In Prison For Forgery

ANKARA - A military court of the Turkish Air Forces sentenced on Thursday the former chairman of the Democratic Society Party (DTP) Nurettin Demirtas to one year in prison for "forgery in avoiding mandatory military service".
Demirtas had submitted a fake health report to be exempted from mandatory military service.
All Turkish male citizens have to serve a period of mandatory military service.
