EINDHOVEN (CIHAN) - Dutch police detained two more suspects in link with the arson attack on the house of a Turkish family in which two children were killed.
One man (36) and one woman (22) were detained as suspects linked to the attacks on a Turkish family in city of Eindhoven, police said on Wednesday.
Police had already detained two suspects in link with the incident.
A house belonging to a Turkish-origin citizen in the Dutch city of Eindhoven was set on fire in an arson attack on Monday. Two children died.
The two children ages 8 and 10 were killed in the raging fire while their parents were severely injured. Parents Selami Kaya and Ayºe Kaya were taken to a hospital. The health conditions of two were reported to be good.
The fire broke out when unidentified assailants threw a container of benzene in the mailbox of the building, police said. Police initiated an investigation into the incident. Police detained two suspects ages 23 and 31 due to their previous links with arson attacks.
Police suspect xenophobia as a motive for the attack.
The large Turkish community in Europe, which is estimated to be 3 million, has been subject to violence and attacks.
In May 1993 two women and three girls were murdered in an arson attack on the house of a Turkish family in Solingen.
Nearby residents condemned the attack. The bodies of the children will be buried on Wednesday.
