PRAGUE, Aug 11 (AFP) - Czech coach Karel Brueckner said Wednesday his team would not be seeking revenge in next week's friendly against Greece, who knocked the favoured Czechs out of Euro 2004.
"This is not revenge, I do not see why it would be necessary to seek revenge, our adversaries deservedly won the Euro tournament," said Brueckner.
Greece progressed to the final of Euro 2004 after beating the Czechs 1-0 with a silver goal during extra time in the semi-final.
The match next week will be marked by the absence of captain and European Player of the Year in 2003, Pavel Nedved, injured during the fateful match with Greece.
Karel Poborsky will instead captain the team in his 100th appearance.
Brueckner insisted 31-year-old Nedved would be back in the squad for the Czechs' World Cup 2006 qualifier against the Netherlands in Amsterdam on September 8 if he was fit.
But he declined to be drawn on reports Nedved was considering quitting the national squad to concentrate on his career with Juventus.
"I see things more positively than the media do, I am an optimist, I think that we won't be short of him," he said.
