ANKARA - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Friday "Turkish Cypriots continue to favor a solution to make eastern Mediterranean a region of stability and prosperity."
Speaking to reporters prior to his departure for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) from Ankara`s Esenboga International Airport, Erdogan said that the "Turkish side in Cyprus has done all it had to do in order to reach a just, permanent and comprehensive solution in the island."
"As Turkey, we continue our approach to Cyprus to create a new partnership based on the political equality of the two sides, equal status of the two founding states and Turkey`s active guaranty," Erdogan also said.
Erdogan and a large Turkish delegation are on their way to the TRNC to join in the July 20th Peace and Freedom Day celebrations.
